Welcome to SAXARTZ

This website represents a colourful collection of works by well known artist and art/design lecturer John Saxton. During his long career John Saxton has held numerous solo exhibitions, participated in many group exhibitions and competitions, winning some.

John Saxton was a part-time lecturer in Concept art/design and advertising areas at Billy Blue University for 10 years throughout the 90s, gaining the certificate Train-the-Trainer '93.

In the 80s he was Chair/Head of Design at Charles Sturt University Riverina Campus at Wagga Wagga, in a tenured position for 10 years. Whilst in that position he experienced PEP leave: 6 months in USA, UK, and in Europe and invited to lecture at the School of Visual Arts New York by the Head, Marshall Arisman.

Prior to this John established his own art/design Consultancy: John Saxton + Associates P/L 1960/80. During this 20 year period of his consultancy he was selected and commissioned as one of 6 designers in Australia to jointly design the Decimal Currency Coins by the Federal Government. (As a silversmith, Stewart Devlin was finally selected to implement the Project.) There were many other commissions including another large work, Nehru and His India Exhibition, which of course involved the Indian Government together with the Department of Foreign Affairs. These projects stimulated even more government and corporate clients, such as Qantas and other airlines, travel agencies, banks and many others.
